The south shore of Lake Erie is one of the best areas of eastern North America for grape growing (viticulture). Slightly over 40 miles east of downtown Cleveland is the Grand River Valley, a recognized AVA (American Viticultural Area). The cluster of vineyards located in the Grand River Valley grows over 50% of the wine grapes in Ohio. The GRV consistently makes award winning wines from chardonnay, gewurtztraminer, pinot gris (grigio), pinot noir, cabernet franc, vidal, and other varietals as well as ice wines. This is the heart of Ohio wine country.
Our goal is to provide you with an enjoyable journey and understanding of why the GRV is a destination for wine lovers. Tastings are coordinated to give you a representative sampling of the area. Area history, links to other wine regions, and getting from the vine to your glass is part of the picture we fill in. We want you to experience the beauty and bounty of the GRV. Wineries and vineyards are our focus but we don't want to overlook the covered bridges, farm markets, Lake Erie vistas, colorful towns, and people who make this area so special. Our tour includes transportation and tasting at 3 wineries. Tours are flexible and can accomodate varying levels of experience with the wide world of wine . We run regular tours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Group tours are available on Wednesday and Thursday (minimum of 4).
So join us!.........for a fun and memorable afternoon in the Grand River Valley.
